FCS Makes Local Airwaves!
FCS is on the radio!
Over the past couple of years, Family Care Services has been reaching out to the community through some new media efforts. We’ve had commercials on WAYZ (104.7 fm), The Line (100.9 fm), and The GOAT (92.1 fm). We’ve also had information nights occasionally advertised on Word FM (88.3). VerStandig Media created a Life Sharing video for us featuring Deb DeShong that was posted on their community website and ours, and former supervisor, Jess Coons, engaged listeners to learn about Life Sharing on an episode of the “Ask the Expert” podcast. Since October 2024, we’ve been regularly seen and heard on “Let’s Talk Tristate” on The GOAT (92.1 fm), which is a daily show with favorite radio personalities Tiny and Katy from 12:00-2:00 highlighting local organizations and businesses. These episodes are not only heard on the radio, but you can see the videos of our smiling faces on The GOAT’s YouTube channel (@921TheGOAT). Some of those smiling faces are the staff and caregivers we all know and love – Andrea Adams, Jess Coons, Deb DeShong, Jess and Brett Doyle, Tony Fisher, Patty Jackson, Pauline Ruthrauff, and Kara Shipp! Recently we connected with Bill Gour, a host of “The Morning Show” on WRGG (93.7 fm) in Greencastle and spent a half an hour chatting about what makes our FCS caregivers and families so awesome. And we were invited back for another show! If you live in the Greencastle area, listen in on September 5, 2025, at 8:00am.
It is our hope that members of our community will hear us on the radio and question what role they might play in Life Sharing, Foster Care, or Adoption. It’s been said that it takes families three to four years of thinking about it before they decide to take the first step toward getting approved, so we want to spread the word as much as possible so that it’s on everyone’s mind!
